Jacklyn (Peas) Brown

September 30, 2021

Jaclyn operates Heaven Scent K9, a business she co-founded with her mother that offers daycare, boarding, training and retail products for dogs. She also provides detection services with her own trained dogs.

She had an interest in training dogs from a young age, and chose to pursue a business degree so she could open her own business. Trine University was not far from home, and she knew several people who went there.

Her Trine degree provided Jaclyn the skills in marketing, communication, web design and business planning to successfully open her own business. She also benefitted from being able to complete an internship in Miami for a company that specializes in training dogs to find items ranging from bed bugs to narcotics, and even explosives. Jacklyn and her K9, SJ, worked at American Airlines Arena, home of the Heat, as well as Hard Rock Stadium, home of the Dolphins.

“I would encourage everyone to step out of their comfort zone and take a risk.” She said. “While it is nerve-wracking and there are people you miss that you leave behind, take the opportunity to see the world and learn something new.”
