My interest in healthcare started while in high school. My focus at the time was science fairs and doing research in the development of antibiotic-resistant strains of human pathogens. For 20 years, I worked in all phases of clinical microbiology with a major focus in burn care as well as working with the leading technology in the microbiology field.

I went on to seek my graduate degree in finance from the University of St. Francis with additional studies at Yale School of Management and the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business.  This opened the doors to many healthcare leadership opportunities. Leadership experience included being CEO of four different organizations. For a number of years, I have owned and operated my own consulting business. Most recent work has been in mergers and acquisitions and financial turnaround work in troubled organizations.

Work in healthcare has carried me to many regions and states of this country as well the ability to work with some of the finest healthcare organizations in America. I have been active on many boards, all within the not-for-profit space of business.  Professional credentialing has included being a Fellow with the American College of Medical Practice Executives (FACMPE), Senior Member American Society for Quality (ASQ) and Member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). I also maintain certifications and specialty status in microbiology with the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP).

My areas of teaching focus have been in multiple topics of healthcare including economics, finance, strategy, capstone, marketing, ethics, medical practice administration and healthcare law. Other areas of instruction have included corporate finance, managerial accounting, financial markets, ethics and organizational behavior. I have also taught in areas of conservation ecology and clinical microbiology.

As part of the profession I have had a number of articles published, and have authored two books: one on common sense healthcare reform and the other covering successful strategies for small and rural hospitals/health systems.
