TrineOnline Faculty Development and Resources

Faculty who teach for TrineOnline have a variety of professional development resources available to them. Are you interested in learning how to engage your students in your online class? Have you ever considered being an online course developer? Below are support resources available to you. Faculty Development Options

 

This is an internal certification course facilitated by Tyler Graham, a Systems Administrator, with Trine University’s IT Department. This course will allow learners to become familiar with the TrineOnline template as well as the basics of communicating within Moodle. This course covers navigating and editing, using discussion forums, TurnItIn, Panopto, grading and providing feedback, gradebook setup, and using university and self-help resources to solve Moodle problems and learning. This course is 14 days in length and requires approximately 12 hours of time.

  • Learning Outcomes
    • Navigate Moodle and locate basic editing options
    • Identify and define Moodle terminology as well as major plugins
    • Participate in and interact with Moodle activities and resources
    • Identify grading and feedback methods within Moodle

This is an internal certification course facilitated by Kodi Buell, Senior Director of Online Learning. This is a knowledge-building course on how to successfully facilitate learning in an online environment. This course is 10 days in length and requires approximately 10-12 hours of time.

Instructors will experience the TrineOnline Development Process that will be used when developing online courses. Instructors will have the opportunity to create engaging learning materials and build a practice course. This course is 21 days in length and requires approximately 20 hours to complete. *Participants must successfully complete the Moodle Faculty Certification Course and the Online Faculty Certification Course prior to enrolling in the ODCC.*

Open Educational Resources (OER): The is a skill-building course on how to find and create OER content for online courses. This course is self-paced and requires around 15 hours of time. This may be higher or lower depending on the individual.

HTML 5 Package (H5P): This is a skill-building course on how to successfully create H5P content for online courses. This course is self-paced and requires around 10 hours of time. This amount may be higher or lower for an individual depending on ability.

Gamification: This course is a skill-building opportunity on how to successfully create game-based learning opportunities in online courses. This course is self-paced and requires around 10 hours of time. This amount may be higher or lower depending on the individual.
