Getting an early start at HAC Book Night

April 27, 2018

HAC Book NightEliza Zimmer, 1, niece of Trine University lecturer Sarah Zimmer, appears to read a book during the university’s annual HAC Book Night on April 19 in the Rick L. and Vicki L. James University Center. Hundreds of community members, students, faculty and staff participated in the event, taking 1,382 donated books.

“This was the sixth Book Night that I’ve done, and, I think, it was the most successful,” said Sarah Young, Ph.D., assistant professor in Trine’s Department of Humanities and Communication. “It was so much fun to see students, staff, faculty and community members mingling together and talking about books. I also was so appreciative of the many students from Humanities and Communication who volunteered their time to make it happen. We absolutely couldn’t do it without them.”

Kyra Braun, a sophomore from Portland, Indiana, won the drawing for prize package including books and a related DVD.

The event also featured a display of photos by students in Zimmer’s digital photography class. Students from Trine’s Event Planning and Promotion class who were working to organize Earth Fest also operated a booth selling T-shirts and bags and making recycled crafts.
