Yoshikazu Sakai, a Trine University student from Japan, speaks during the university’s “Global Perspectives on the Life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.” program Thursday night, Jan. 19, in Best Hall. Trine University students from different cultural backgrounds shared the impact of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life, as well as information about the history, political and social systems of their respective countries. Besides Sakai, Dominique Tonneas, of Hicksville, Ohio; Tomas Pasqualini of Argentina; Ayasha Siddique Faria of Bangladesh; Franklin Ekete of Nigeria; Elena Gallego of California, a member of the Choctaw Nation; Kai Sasan of Harvest, Alabama, who also lived in Germany; and John Harris-Scott of Wesley Chapel, Florida, participated in the discussion, facilitated by Trine University area coordinator Calvin Skinner.
