CCH honors Trine Professor

March 22, 2016

MARCH 22 – Trine University’s Christian Campus House (CCH) honored a Trine University professor this weekend for his exceptional ability to prepare students for life beyond his courses.

Pavan Karra, Ph.D., of the Wade Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, received the Distinguished Faculty Award from the Christian Campus House senior class. Karra earned a Bachelor of Technology from the National Institute of Technology in Warangal, India; a Master of Science from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln; and a Ph.D. from Iowa State University.

The award was presented to Karra by senior mechanical engineering majors Westin Becker of North Webster, Ind., and Jacob Haller of Indianapolis, Ind.

"Dr. Karra always wants to make sure that everyone in the class in on the same page, and would go out of his way to help the students understand the material," Becker said.

Haller agrees that Karra’s influence is something many students will carry with them beyond the halls of Trine University. "Dr. Karra has not only imparted valuable knowledge to his students, but he has, perhaps more importantly, given them the tools to learn when they are no longer enrolled in his courses,” he said.

“We’re grateful for the Trine professors who work to ensure their students are performing well academically and enjoying a well-rounded college experience,” said Travis Wilhelm, Director of Campus Ministry and University Chaplain. “The award is one way to recognize top individuals on the Trine campus.”

CCH is an organization that seeks to help Trine University better the student community as a whole by creating a ministry that serves their spiritual needs.
