Students learn from golf industry pros at Tee It Up Trine

October 31, 2016

Trine University golf management students heard from industry professionals about career opportunities in the golf industry, skills necessary for success and how to build a professional network during the Tee It Up Trine Networking Night on Thursday, Oct. 27.

Special guests for the event, which was held in the Zollner Hospitality Suite, were Mike David, executive director of the Indiana Golf Association; Chris Loeffler, assistant golf pro at Fort Wayne County Club; and Mike Morgan, sales representative for Titleist.

The guests were available for roundtable discussions with the 21 golf management students, two alumni and four faculty who attended. Each then presented about their work, what they did to achieve success in the golf business and suggestions for students on skills to refine and ways to network and find opportunities, both for internships and jobs after college.

Catherine Benson, director of golf management at Trine, said the event was a resounding success.

“Students enjoyed the personalized interactions with presenters. They liked the range of experiences the presenters brought and they appreciated the opportunity to ask questions,” Benson said.

The event was sponsored by the students of the Tee It Up Trine club and the Ketner School of Business.
