CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY

Refund after the start of classes:

  1. Procedure for withdrawal
    1. A student choosing to withdraw from Trine University after the commencement of classes must notify their advisor or the Director of Graduate Programs by the specified deadline each term
    2. Once a student misses three (3) sessions of any one class, he/she will be dropped from the course with a “W”. Only in the event of rare and unusual circumstances, with formal documentation, will a student be allowed to continue.
    3. Students enrolled in a hybrid course must attend the mandatory seated session. Missing this session will result in automatically being dropped from the course.
  2. Tuition charges/refunds
    1. Before the first day and through the first week of classes, the student is entitled to a refund of 100% of the tuition.
    2. Refunds of credit balances due to excess financial aid or overpayment will be refunded after the drop/add period. A student withdrawing from a course may be eligible for a full or partial refund of tuition, depending on when the official withdrawal takes place. The student must make all refund requests electronically. Directions and links will be emailed to the student’s Trine email address.
    3. A student is not officially withdrawn until the necessary withdrawal forms, complete with the required signatures, and have been filed with the Office of the Registrar. Nothing other than an official withdrawal permits refunds.
    4. Students who withdraw from Trine University or drop classes during the first 60% of a term, may be required to repay some or all of their financial aid. Refund and repayment amounts are calculated based upon a required federal formula to determine how much is to be refunded to the student or refunded back to various federal and state programs. (See “Fees” section in the catalog for information about the Tuition Refund Schedule.)
    5. Return of Title IV federal regulations require the Office of Financial Aid to review the aid packages of students who officially withdraw or unofficially withdraw from Trine University if they receive any type of federal aid, including federal grants and loans.
