A variety of awards are awarded annually to students and faculty in Humanities and Communications.
Student Awards
The Needler-McGregor Award for Excellence in English
Presented to a student who preforms outstanding in the area of English, both in and out of the classroom.
The Department of Humanities and Communication Outstanding Senior Award
Created to honor excellence in academics and activities in the Department of Humanities and Communication.
The Jeanine B. Samuelson Student Distinction Award
Presented to a well-rounded and successful member of the Department of Humanities and Communication who has been nominated by their classmates.
The Golden Microphone Award
Presented to a student who performs exceptionally in the are of media production–written, web, audio, or video. This work may be inside or outside of the classroom.
Student/Faculty Awards
The Jannen Renaissance Scholar Awards
Presented to students and faculty who exhibit a breadth of interest and accomplishment consistent with Renaissance ideals. These awards are administered by the Humanities Institute.
Endowed in 1991 by Dr. Robert L. Jannen, chair emeritus of the board of trustees and TSU alumnus (BSChE 1950), and his wife Dolores. The awards are presented to students and faculty who exhibit a breadth of interest and accomplishment consistent with Renaissance ideals. These awards are administered by the Humanities Institute.
