Doctor of Physical Therapy Scholarships

A variety of scholarships are available to Doctor of Physical Therapy students. Additional scholarships may be available to you through your state or local community.

American Physical Therapy Association

The APTA offers scholarships and awards to student members.

National Strength and Conditioning Association Foundation

The NSCAF provides funding for educational and research activities that enhance the practical application of strength and conditioning, including physical therapy education.

American Association of University Women

AAUW offers Career Development Grants that provide funding to women who hold a bachelor’s degree and are preparing to advance or change careers or re-enter the workforce in education; health and medical sciences; science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM); or social sciences. Primary consideration is given to women of color and women pursuing their first advanced degree or credentials in nontraditional fields.

AMBUCS Scholarship Program

HIE Help Center Scholarship

The HIE Help Center will award one annual scholarship is available to an undergraduate or graduate student who plans to pursue a career in physical, occupational, or speech therapy.

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)

Several scholarships and a debt reduction program are available through the VA for students pursuing healthcare education.

The Pat Tillman Foundation

The Pat Tillman Foundation empowers military service members, veterans and spouses with academic scholarships.

Veterans United Foundation

The Veterans United Foundation Scholarship creates opportunities for family members of service members and Veterans to achieve their educational dreams.

Indian Health Service

The Indian Health Service (IHS) offers scholarships for American Indian and Alaska Native students pursuing degrees in the health professions.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund

Scholarships are offered to support the education of high achieving Hispanic American Students.

Daughters of the American Revolution Occupational/Physical Therapy Scholarship

Awarded to students who are in financial need and have been accepted or are attending an accredited school of physical therapy or occupational therapy.

Alivio Medical Center Scholarship

The Alivio Medical Center Scholarship was created in 2021 to help Latino students seeking to enter a health care field, including physical therapy.

BrightLife Direct Physical Therapy Scholarship

Brightlife scholarships are offered to high achieving U.S. citizens currently enrolled in a CAPTE accredited program and have completed at least one year of their program.

Fort Wayne African-American Healthcare Alliance Scholarship

These Scholarship awards are available to high achieving students from Fort Wayne, IN that are enrolled and accepted in a health-related field.

Huntington County HELP

This is a scholarship that is awarded to students that are from Huntington county and pursuing a career in the healthcare field.

Indiana APTA Student Scholarship

These scholarships reward students who are pursuing a professional career in physical therapy. It is required that applicants are APTA student members and are students in a program in Indiana.

Rizing Tide Crest and Surge Scholarships

To combat the lack of diversity in the physical therapy profession, the Rizing Tide foundation annually supports a group of high-achieving individuals who are pursuing a career as a physical therapist and who come from underrepresented racial and ethnic backgrounds.

The Lutheran Foundation

The Lutheran Foundation has 20 restricted scholarship funds to invest in individuals pursuing a healthcare profession degree.
