Shane Steele is dean of Trine University's Rinker-Ross School of Health Sciences and an associate professor in the exercise science department. After graduating in 2004 with a degree in physical therapy and becoming a licensed physical therapist, he worked in a variety of settings in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan and Indiana, with most of his experience being in outpatient orthopedics.
According to Steele, his favorite part of being a physical therapist is educating clients on their painful syndromes and how to correct them. He has also enjoyed speaking to the community about body mechanics and their effects on the human body. He said his love of helping people understand how their bodies work ultimately led him to his career in academia.
When he’s not in class, Steele enjoys playing with his three sons, skiing, and traveling with his family (especially by train) and training for and competing in triathlons.
