Because of my education at an osteopathic school, I have always been a hands-on physical therapist. I have worked in a variety of settings — including outpatient, inpatient, home health, pediatric, schools, private settings and nursing homes — and have focused my attention on helping people cope with their pain and ultimately managing pain in order to optimize function. I love to teach people new and different ways to manage their pain, maintain their quality of life and stay as active as possible.
I really enjoy problem-solving: looking at an activity, breaking it down and then rebuilding it to improve function and performance. In physical therapy and in teaching, I really like to study an area of the human body that may be the main focus of pain or weakness, but then explore connected areas and facilitate overall improved coordination of the body. Teaching here at Trine really allows me to study, understand and teach others to explore how the body works as a whole.
I live in Angola and am an active part of the Steuben County community. I am a health and wellness advocate and an exercise/sport lover. I personally participate in working out, hiking, biking and playing tennis. My family and I love to be outside: Snow, rain or shine, we are doing things outside. We spend a lot of time playing tennis, traveling to tennis matches and supporting Trine University’s men’s and women’s tennis teams.
