I have always been passionate about making and studying what we, as humans, make— everything from artistic movements and periods to cultural practices to the built environment. Looking at the world through the lens of handwork of cultures long gone and making connections from their traditions to our contemporary world reminds us that the world is not finite and fixed, but in constant flux. Words, images, actions, ideas— everything that has come before and continues to be created contributes to the whole of our cultural fabric.
I passionately teach courses in communication, the visual arts, architecture appreciation, and more. I have a BA from Columbia College Chicago, a post-baccalaureate in Sculpture from Studio Art Centers International in Florence, Italy, and an MFA in Photography from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
