All of this began, for me, in the back row of a first-year literature course circa 2010. I was a slouchy undergrad trying to check off some gen ed credits, but that class introduced me to the extraordinary potential of the humanities: the chance to ask big questions about our lives and communities, and to use tools like storytelling and critical analysis—applied to literature, film, and other practices and artifacts—to help us find our way toward a meaningful response. Now, as a teacher, I want to help my students do exactly that.

At Trine, I teach courses across both English and Communication, with a particular interest in American culture and literature, film and media studies, journalism, and the environmental humanities. I hold MA degrees from Purdue University and the University of Illinois at Chicago, and I’m currently completing a PhD in American Studies at Purdue. I previously worked as a writer, video producer, and magazine editor, and I continue to do writing and public humanities work as part of my ongoing scholarship.
